A Work for God
The Vision
Revelation14:7 (NIV)
“He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
The people of God called Pisgah shall be intentionally demonstrative in our love for God, and give His name glory in all we do.
A Great Church
Mount Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lawnside enjoys a rich heritage and history. The Legacy of the 200+ year old church includes activity in the Underground Railroad, Civil War, Civil Rights Movement, and more.
Richard Allen, founder of the AME denomination, served as pastor here. The cemetery adjacent to the church holds the remains of many who have marked history, including Jarena Lee, who was the 1st lady at Pisgah for 6 years and was also the 1st to be ordained as a female minister in the denomination by Bishop Richard Allen; and Peter Mott, renowned abolitionist and historical figure who was the 1st Church School Superintendent at Mount Pisgah.
A Great People
The believers that assemble themselves here at Mount Pisgah for worship and service are genuine, kind, and compassionate. When the Word permeates the hearts of a people, there is a demonstrative difference. That difference is the effusive love of Christ. God has the ability to take ordinary everyday people and do extraordinary things. The intergenerational ministry of Pisgah utilizes the gifts and talents of all ages for the glory of God. While the church was founded by freed slaves, in an era of segregation, we are intentional about ministering to all of God’s people.
