Welcome to Mt Pisgah AME Church! We are a historical African American Church that is on a mission to bring souls to Christ. Our church was founded over a century ago and has been a pillar in the community ever since. We provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all who seek to worship with us. We offer a variety of services, including Sunday worship, Bible study, and fellowship events. Our team of pastors and ministry leaders are dedicated to serving our congregation and community. Our Pastors:
Pastor Josiah C. Haggins is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He accepted Christ around the tender age of twelve years old. He is a humble and gifted servant of God whose ultimate desire is to do the will of God.
In 2014 he married his high school sweetheart Rev. Rochelle Haggins and together they have three beautiful children; Josiah Haggins the second, Joy Christina Haggins and Julius Haggins. While in Alabama, he served as a Correctional Sergeant in the Alabama prison system for seven years and pastored a total of four different churches: Bethel Goshen A.M.E in Goshen, Alabama, St. Luke AME Church in Louisville, Alabama, Greater Dunn Chapel in Troy, Alabama, and Mt. Pisgah AME Church in Lawnside, New Jersey.
Rev. Josiah Haggins graduated from Lithonia High School in Lithonia, Georgia, in 2008; he graduated from Troy University in Troy, Alabama, with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in 2013 and graduated with a Master’s of Divinity from the wonderful Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia in 2022. He was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in 2019 and an Itinerate Elder in 2022 by Bishop Harry L. Seawright, prelate of the 9th Episcopal District of the AME Church.
Pastor Haggins's desire as a church is to be within the community, proclaiming the Word of Christ and providing good deeds to the community whenever possible. God told the Prophet Jeremiah, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you, ordained you a Prophet to the nations" (Jer 1:5; 29:11 NKJV).

Rochelle Haggins was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 23, 1989, to Jerry and Wanda Dobbins. She is the second-born child of four girls. Rochelle graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor of Social Work in 2015 and a Master of Social Work in 2018. She is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
She happily married Reverend Josiah C. Haggins, the Pastor of Mount Pisgah AME Church in Lawnside, New Jersey. Together they have three beautiful children Josiah II, Joy, and Julius. In 2013, she began a Ministry called Women’s Empowerment on the campus of Troy University in Troy, Alabama. The ministry grew to 30 women who actively participated in weekly Bible Study on Wednesday nights.
In 2018, she transformed Women’s Empowerment to social media platforms to encourage Women with weekly inspirational messages. On November 4, 2023 she was ordained an Itinerant Deacon by Bishop Harry L. Seawright, presiding Prelate of the 9th Episcopal District of the AME Church. She resides with her family in Lawnside, New Jersey, where she is the CEO of Women’s Empowerment Network LLC, a video editing/production company. Rochelle has a passion for serving her community and for positively impacting the lives of others.
